Embassy Appointment

Today is THE DAY, the day our adoption is complete and finalized! We got "all gussied up" as Viv's mother would say and headed to the US Embassy. After we went through security we waited in a courtyard filled with adoptive families. Once everyone was accounted for we went inside to a very busy lobby. We waited for our name to be called, while Mawerdi was gaining all the attention of the Ethiopians sitting in the lobby, and finally headed to window #15! We were asked about our child's history and if we visited Dire Dawa. We stated that we would have loved to have visited the place she was born but were discouraged from both the US and Ethiopian government due to safety issues with nearby Somalia. The officer stated that our case had been reviewed and cleared, and that our adoption was now complete. We were told to return on friday to pick up Mawerdi's visa and immigration paperwork. We couldn't believe it, everything was now complete....the next stop...HOME!

  1. Your dream has come true!!! A family at last because you worked diligently for its fulfillment, perserved through challenges and never lost sight of your desire to have Mawerdi become an integral loving part of you.
