Welcome to Oregon Mawerdi

Although Oregon and Ethiopia both have waterfalls, many months of rain, lots of good places to eat, and other things in common...they are two very different places. We wondered how Mawerdi would like her new environment...

She loved her first Tram Ride at OHSU. We had to go for a medical check up and she thought the ride was pretty great!

She has fun in her crib, she enjoys looking at the mobile and all the animals in the pattern. She thinks it is a great place to play peek-a-boo!

She is a happy little girl!

We know that the adjustment has just started to happen, but everyone is happy and doing fantastic. We feel like a complete family, a very HAPPY and complete family. We look forward to watching her grow over the years!

Now it is time to enter the next phase in the journey, raising Mawerdi. This blog will now be complete, if you are interested in hearing about more Adventures with Mawerdi (our new family blog) feel free, otherwise we wish you all the best! This blog was meant for our daughter, to document our journey to her, however we know that some of you have enjoyed reading along the way. Everyone has a different journey, but the reward is just as great! Thank you for your support, love and interest. Adoption is truly an amazing journey, not without an emotional rollercoaster at times. For us we have been blessed with a generally smooth process and an amazing daughter who we can't stop smiling at, Miss Mawerdi. We are so grateful for every moment of the process and for all the future memories to come!

“All of life is a journey which paths we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us. We determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we get there.”

  2. Mawerdi is just so full of smiles and joy and excitement about her new home and forever family, Mawerdi loves field trips especially outdoor ones and will take to Oregon's natural wonders like a duck to water. And considering the rain we have in Oregon it is a great blessing she loves water!!! The hike to all the falls will bring her special delights. I hope to share some of these glorious field trips with her. Hugs, Grandma
